About the event
We are so excited to be able to start our volunteer classes back up again. As a HAWC volunteer you will be able to help our shelter with tasks that truly enrich the lives of the pets in our care. Here at HAWC we understand that we are NOT a home, but that doesn’t stop us from doing all we can to make it feel like one. We focus heavily on not only physical exercise but mental and emotional stimulation through enrichment activity’s such as scent guided walks, puzzle’s, frozen treats, and even just a good cuddle in our "Home Room". Caring for as many pets as we do, there are always things to be done around the shelter such as laundry, dishes, or helping prepare the next day’s enrichment activities. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please sign up. We can't wait to see you!
Due to Covid-19, We will be limiting the size of the classes to allow for social distancing.
Please note that although walking shelter dogs is a fun activity, it can also be physically demanding. Know & respect your limitations.
To be approved as a new shelter volunteer, you must be 19 years of age or older, complete a volunteer application, and attend an orientation session.
Due to liability constraints, we do not accept volunteers requiring community service hours, or court appointed volunteer credit.
*High school and college community service hours must be previously approved by the Executive Director. *
