About the event
The Humane Association of Warren County is excited to announce our newest event, a foraging class at Caesars Creek State Park on June 10th, 2023 at 11am. Led by Lisa Hildebrandt, a knowledgeable foraging expert and member of the Cincinnati Nature Center, this hour-long class will provide attendees with a fun and educational experience in the great outdoors.
But that's not all! As part of our ongoing efforts to support the pets at the animal shelter, attendees will also have the opportunity to meet a shelter dog and take them on the hike through the park. This is a great way to help a shelter dog and learn about the local plants and wildlife at the same time.
During the 1 mile hike, students will learn about the history and ethics of foraging, discovering how humans have used wild plants for food and medicine throughout history. Lisa will also teach attendees about the different edible and medicinal plants that can be found in the local area, sharing her wealth of knowledge gained through her studies at the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine.
This class promises to be a unique and exciting opportunity to learn about the natural world around us, and to discover how we can connect with and utilize the resources that nature has to offer. Whether you're an avid hiker or just curious about the world around you, this foraging class is sure to be a memorable and enriching experience. So why not join us on June 10th at 11pm at Caesars Creek State Park, and see what nature has to offer while making a positive impact on a shelter dog's life?
