About the Humane Association of Warren County

Founded in 1973, the Humane Association of Warren County (HAWC) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization and the only animal shelter serving Warren County, Ohio. For over 50 years, we’ve provided a safe haven for abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs and cats.

What began as a small, community-driven effort has grown into a full-service shelter dedicated to helping pets find loving homes. Each year, we care for and rehome thousands of animals while working to reduce pet overpopulation through spay and neuter programs.

As an independent, local organization, we focus entirely on the needs of our community. In addition to adoption services, we help reunite lost pets with their families and promote responsible pet ownership through education and outreach.

HAWC is supported by the generosity of our community, relying on donations to continue our mission of providing compassionate care and second chances for animals in need.
