I'm interested in fostering...

At the Humane Association of Warren County, we know that foster families are the bridge between homelessness and a forever home. Because of you, animals get the chance to experience safety, stability, and the comfort of living in a real home environment. Your care helps them decompress, build confidence, learn routines, and show their true personalities.

Our Foster Team will provide everything you need, food, supplies, medical care, guidance, and ongoing support. All we ask is that you provide patience, love, and a little extra TLC.

Together, we’re giving them more than shelter, we’re giving them a future.

Other Ways to Get Invloved

Purple Paws

Purple Paws Fosters house pets that are displaced from their home due to natural disasters, domestic violence, homelessness, or hospitalization.

Field Trips

Doggie Day Field Trips are a chance to give a shelter dog a break from the kennel and a day full of adventure! Whether it’s a walk in the park, a pup cup run, a hike, or just relaxing at your home.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a hands-on way to make a real difference in the lives of animals in need. Whether you’re walking dogs, socializing cats, helping with events, or supporting daily operations, every hour you give helps provide comfort, enrichment, and love to the pets in our care.

FAQ'S

I Have Pets at Home, Can I Foster?

Absolutely! To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we require that resident pets in the home be spayed or neutered and current on vaccinations. Many of the animals who come into our care have unknown medical backgrounds, which means there is a potential risk of illness exposure. Keeping your pets up to date helps protect them — and allows us to protect the animals we serve as well.

How Much and How Long Am I Expected to Foster?

The length of each foster stay can vary depending on the animal’s age and medical needs. For example, caring for neonatal kittens or puppies under six weeks old typically requires a longer commitment than fostering a weaned kitten or adult pet who is simply waiting for vaccines or adoption. How often you choose to foster is completely up to you. We will always connect with you before placing an animal in your care, and you are never obligated to say yes.

What Am I Expected to Provide?

We’re happy to supply most of what you’ll need for fostering, including food, crates, toys, bedding, pee pads, and any necessary medications or medical treatments. Our goal is to make the experience as smooth and supported as possible.
